Sometimes We Miss!
Philippians 2:17-18, Devotion #7

But even if my life is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is if I am to die for you), I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me.
Philippians 2:17-18

Father, my buddy walked into the church lobby. At that time he was my buddy but we hadn't even met yet. How was I to know that a simple handshake and smile would lead to a real friendship? How was I to know that a simple hello would lead to a lifetime of care? How was I to know that stepping out of my comfort zone and meeting this stranger would make a difference forever? Well, I do know. I know that no hand offered in friendship and love is ever a wasted hand. I know that all people matter to You and are of equal value in Your eyes. I know that in Christ there is no difference between Jew or Greek, male or female, black or white. In Your eyes every man is a man and every woman is a woman. All matter to You.

So, there seems that absolutely nothing is missed by the simple offer of a hand. Opportunities potentially open. And yet, sometimes we miss. Sometimes we just flat out are so into our own news or world that we miss the person standing in front of us. Sometimes we are so occupied or distracted that we miss the person we are even looking at in the eyes. Yes, sometimes we miss. And we hate when we do. Because, reality is, every person matters to You. Every person, one at a time, You died for. Yes, every person matters to You and we could, at times, not give two twits for them. And those times of us not caring surely don't diminish the value that a person has to You. Father, we miss folk at times. I rejoice that You miss no one. For anyone who comes to You,  You will give them rest, You will love them, You will be theirs for eternity. In that we rejoice. Come Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.

Love, Dad/Danny
