Just Holding On Philippians 2:16, Devotional #3
Hold tightly to the word of life, so that when Christ returns, I will be proud that I did not lose the race and that my work was not useless. Philippians 2:16
Father, we shared about life, children, work; past, present, future plans and thoughts; pain, joy, struggle, commitment, hopes and dreams. And in the midst of it all, we all are "holding tightly," at least as tightly as we can at the different moments in time. And there are times that others are doing the holding on for us. Sometimes our grip grows so weak that it might not even feel like we even have a grip. You know we do.
And Father, we all believe that Your grip is stronger than ours. We believe You hold on strong and tight when we are unable to. Faith is our holding, our connection to You. Paul encourages us to not grow weary in well doing and sometimes well doing gets worrisome.
Father, we need You. We need Your strength, power, patience, love, trust . . . we need Your all. There is nothing that can sap energy like the pain and suffering of children, distant marriage relationship, job loss and just plain stress. We come to You right now in our holding. We come and seek Your rest for our souls. We come seeking peace and strength. Father, fill our hearts anew with Your energies. I so thank You for time away with those we love. So bless us all in Your spirit. Draw us all closer to You and Your way. Grant us passions that glorify You. Enable us to enjoy You in every aspect of the day that unfolds before us. We're holding on, Father, even during the just holding on times. Come Holy Spirit.
Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen. Love, Dad / Danny
