Real Men! Philippians 2:17-18, Devotion #13
But even if my life is to be poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of your faithful service (that is if I am to die for you), I will rejoice, and I want to share my joy with all of you. And you should be happy about this and rejoice with me. Philippians 2:17-18 Father, I have often thought it was interesting how James and John, as well as Peter and Andrew, got up and left their fishing boats and nets to follow Jesus. It seems to me that they must have known Him prior to that day when He walked along the beach and issued that invite to follow Him. And I am certain in their following, they had no idea where it might lead them. Three years later they found out for sure and the rest of their lives they kept finding out more. The reality is, when they received the offer to follow Him, they did. And for sure, their lives did change forever. And for sure, their lives changed for the better. And for sure, they said, "But even if..." and they followed You wherever You led them.
Yesterday was a wonderful morning with the brotherhood gathering at The Salvation Army church in Homewood for a time of worship. More than 60 men from many different racial groups met to worship and fellowship together. Men from Orchard Hill and men from Homewood, all loving You and loving one another! One of the men had on a T-Shirt that read, "Real men love Jesus!" And for sure, that they do! And real men love each other! And real men love their wives! And real men love their children! And real men love themselves! And real men do what is right in Your eyes!
Yes, Father, real men do what You want and what glorifies You "even if (their) life is to be poured out like a drink offering…" for the sake of others eternally. Make us real men in Jesus. Come Holy Spirit.
Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
Love, Dad/Danny
