You Can Bank It! Philippians 2:16, Devotion #10
Hold tightly to the word of life, so that when Christ returns, I will be proud that I did not lose the race and that my work was not useless. Philippians 2:16 Father, my relationship with You began in February, 1965. When that happened, I felt terrible. I did not deserve one drop of Your love for me. You had been nothing but a cuss word to me. When I heard that You made us in Your image and that You 'don't make no junk'. Wow! That You gave every drop of Your blood for me, Jesus! Wow! My life changed forever. Me, precious to You, invaluable in Your hands, totally useful! That was so powerful to me because I considered myself as junk, worthless, not useful in any way whatsoever.
You know, we are "jars of clay" and when we are in Your hands, we are totally useful and You do marvelous stuff. We were reading John chapter 5 this week about the man who lay at the pool for 38 years unable to get well - sick and helpless. "Instantly" after his encounter with Jesus, he was healed. He walked and went about life. He did have to answer one question before that healing took place. Jesus asked him, "Do you want to get well?" Seems like a senseless question to a man who had been sick for 38 years. He said, "Yes." And he walked! Father, do we want to get well? Do we want to be useful? Reality is, when these "jars of clay" are in your hands, we are well and we are useful. You do mighty things with a willing heart.
Father, we come here today desiring that You make us well in every area of our lives that need healing. Free us from anything that holds us back. Give us the strength and power to trust You and to "get up, pick up our mat, and walk." Thank You that You are still in the business of making no junk. We can bank that! Come Holy Spirit.
Thank You, Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
Love, Dad / Danny
